n this photo series I study the Persian carpet as a heterotopia from different perspectives. – Persian carpet as a symbol of Persian garden in antiquity which is claimed to be an “other place” by Michel Foucault. – Persian carpet and its usage in Iranian culture as a picnic blanket to build temporarily a more private space in urban green areas. – Persian carpet as a cultural heritage. Heritage (the conceptual and theoretical heritage space) is understood as a heterotopia itself due to its tertiary character.
from a heterotopian symbol to heterotopia
from public to private space
from heritage to heterotopia
