Beyond me

“[Weston calls photography] a way of self-development, a means to discover and identify oneself with all the manifestations of basic forms – with nature, the source.” - Edward Weston A playground opens as I transcend being either the artist or the subject to explore and expand my self-awareness / my mind and body. The process of photographing myself extends to an intimate performance of self-discovery, to find the true self, ironically where I can’t be nor exist, in the heterotopian mirror and on the negatives. The process becomes more important than results, whilst the objectivity of the photo seeks to represent the reality to the viewer. I manipulate the negatives and the photographic paper to deform and distort the image, to facilitate the imagination for a (seemingly) more realistic representation.
