Artist's statement

In the last years I started to apply different mediums to investigate various social and philosophical concepts and to test the limits of our perception of the contemporary culture. As the photography remains a central medium in most of my projects, I combine it with sculptural, installational and performative disciplines to create a multilayered space, where content stands over some fixated medium or form. As a former fashion design student who approached fashion formally and conceptually, I often work with materiality of fabric to create forms, to symbolise and to perform. Given my nationality and my deep connection with women’s experiences in Iran, I seek to work in a self-reflecting way and I often deal with the human (specially female) body in social and political space. I also draw my inspirations form ecofeminist art, body art and postcolonial discourses. Currently I seek new methods to transfer my view and experiment the conveyance of my concept through installative and performative media and their spatial character.
